No, currently LINX products are only available online, but we are actively searching for retail opportunities!

Who is Ferdinand Magellan?

Ferdinand Magellan is an infamous Portuguese explorer that set out to sea in 1519 with a fleet of five ships to discover a western sea route to the Spice Islands. He discovered what is now known as the Strait of Magellan and he became the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean! His fearlessness, explorative personality, and willingness to challenge the unknown inspired us to design a product that encapsulates those brave qualities.

Specifications / Adjustments

How can I adjust the strap on my watch?

The quickest way to get your watch fitted to your wrist would be to bring it to most jewelry stores, watch repair shops, or key cutting places which typically provide this service for a small fee.

LINX will however happily provide a service to add or remove the desired amount of links. If you are interested in this service, you can either contact us through our Contact Us portal or email us at help@linxwatchco.com.

How do I adjust the time on my watch?

Adjusting the date and/or time with a screw-down is simple, you simply unscrew the crown in a counterclockwise direction until it springs open then gently pull it out to the first or second click position.

In the first click position you can adjust the day of the month by rotating the crown counterclockwise and stopping on the desired day.

In the second click position you can adjust the time by rotating the crown counterclockwise until the desired time is reached.

To confirm your adjustments simply push the crown inward until it reaches a set position, and then while in that set position, rotate the crown clockwise while continuing to push it inward and continue to rotate the crown until it is tightly sealed.

What type of crystal do you use?

Anti-Reflective Coated Sapphire Crystal

We wanted to ensure that the high quality standards were consistent for every aspect of The Magellan, and the crystal is no exception to these standards. Sapphire crystal is the best, clearest, and most durable glass on the market. It is brilliant, highly-transparent and extremely strong in terms of its structure. It has an extremely high resistance to scratching even when used intensively, which is perfect for worry-free exploration.

What type of movement is used?

Our watches are equipped with one of the most well-known and trusted movements on the market, the Japanese Miyota 2115 Precision Quartz Movement.

What is a quartz movement and why use a quartz movement?

A quartz movement is a type of watch movement that uses a battery as its primary power source by sending an electrical current through a small quartz crystal which electrifies the crystal and creates vibrations thus powering the watch movements. With the Miyota Caliber 2115 quartz movement that we have integrated with the Magellan, as long as you replace the battery once every 3 years your watch should last a lifetime.

We chose to utilize a quartz movement because they have been proven to be extremely reliable and accurate when it comes to keeping time. While a good automatic watch may be off by several minutes in a month, a good quartz watch will only be off by 20 seconds/month. The maintenance needed to maintain a quartz movement is very minimal, you just need to change the battery once every 3 years whereas an automatic watch needs servicing every 3-5 years.

Will my Magellan last forever?

Your Magellan was designed to last a lifetime. The Miyota Caliber 2115 requires very little maintenance and it only needs a new battery once every 3 years. As long as the sealing mechanisms (screw-down crown, caseback, etc.) are appropriately sealed, the Magellan can last for generations.

What is a screw-down crown and why use one?

A screw-down crown is a special feature of dive watches that aids in water resistance and preserving the condition of the movement. Its threaded winding crown screws tightly into the case and protects the case from any dust and water.

Our screw-down crown is the perfect crown to complete The Magellan. Amplifying water resistance and ensuring the perseverance of the Miyota 2115 Caliber Movement allows our customers to feel confident wearing a watch that could last for generations.

Does LINX offer a warranty?

LINX Watch offers a warranty of 2 years from purchase. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred.

We know your watch is meant to be worn in the water and used daily, so if it fails in the water during your warranty period, you can contact us and we will fix it. The crown needs to be sealed while regularly wearing your watch. If your crown is not completely screwed down during water exposure, warranty will be voided.

Standard wear and tear, damage caused by impact, battery loss, or theft are not covered under this warranty. In order to keep your watch waterproof, it is crucial that you seal the screw down crown whenever you enter the water. In the event the screw down crown was left open during water exposure, the warranty will be voided, but we will work with you to get your watch fixed or replaced for a fair price.

Original owners of LINX products who purchased directly from the LINX website or a LINX Authorized Dealer are covered by this warranty. You will need proof of purchase if the LINX website does not provide the purchase order number.

Please feel free to reach out over email to our team with questions or concerns at help@linxwatchco.com

The case of my watch was scratched, is this normal?

Yes, scratching of a stainless steel watch is a common occurrence

Wearing your watch and using it as part of your daily routine means scratching is bound to occur. The casing on our watches is 316L Stainless Steel which can be buffed/brushed out as any other stainless steel would.

We believe in the concept that adding scratches to your watches become part of its legacy and builds its character. Much like scars trigger memories for us, scratches can become reminders of memorable adventures and experiences that your LINX watch has been a part of.

If your watch has become scratched to an undesirable extent, LINX offers a service to buff out as many scratches as you desire! The details of our scratch services can be found by clicking here or by clicking the menu item titled “Scratch Policies” in the footer (bottom) of our website.

Does LINX offer a scratch repair service?

Yes, LINX does offer a service for scratches to your Stainless Steel.. but we recommend checking out our take on the meaning behind the scratches first: read here

My bezel has become difficult to rotate, what should I do?

A quick, easy, and affordable way to fix this issue would be to use WD-40. While it may sound unconventional at first, spraying a small amount of WD-40 in between the small space where the bezel meets the casing is usually more than enough to correct this problem. After applying the WD-40, work the bezel back and forward until it begins to rotate smoothly. To remove the excess WD-40 from your watch, simply wash it off in a sink with some dish soap and it will be ready to go!

The crown action feels "rough", can I fix this?

A rough crown action can typically be related to extra residue residing on the case tube.

Two quick ways to solve this issue are:

  1. Use dental floss to clear the threads of the case tube.
  2. Rub a pencil on the case tube, the graphite acts as a lubricant for the threads.

Is it possible to scratch the sapphire crystal?

While sapphire is the most scratch-resistant crystal on the market, it is not impervious to damages.

Sapphire crystal is rated 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, compared to 5 for mineral glass, and 3 for acrylic glass. The only material that’s more scratch-resistant, would be diamond, which is rated 10/10.

Why doesn’t my second hand hit directly on the markers?

If your second hand isn’t perfectly aligned with the markers, don’t be alarmed.

The gears are in charge of moving the second hand. Every gear has been intentionally spaced apart. The second hand's stopping point slips slightly due to the gear space.

Is Second Hand Alignment an Indicator of Quality?

Perfect second hand alignment in a quartz watch is actually an indicator of mass-produced machine assembly. Several watch megacorporations have made significant investments in the robotic automation of its production lines, which have essentially eliminated problems with second-hand alignment.

It really just comes down to your preference as to whether you would rather have a $20 Casio that is made by a robot in Japan or a $2000 Omega quartz that may have a misaligned second hand due to its manual assembly in Switzerland. Both will tell the time accurately and last for years with proper maintenance.

Water Resistance

Are LINX watches waterproof?

All LINX watches are built to be water resistant up to 10 ATM underwater (approximately 100m or 330ft)

While LINX products can fail underwater, the circumstances and situations for this to occur are rare enough that we consider all of our models to be functionally waterproof.

Can I swim with my LINX watch?

YES

Our products have a water-resistance level of 10 ATM (100m or 330ft)!

This means you enjoy swimming, surfing, scubaing, etc. worry free!

What does 10 ATM water resistance mean?

ATM or "atmospheres" is the amount of pressure a watch can withstand. A 10 ATM water resistance level means our products are designed to withstand pressures equivalent to about 100 meters, or 330 ft, underwater.

What is the purpose of a screw-down crown?

The screw-down crown allows for enhanced water-resistance and it also aids in preserving the mechanics of the watch. This type of threaded winding crown screws tightly into the case and protects the case from any dust and water. The gaskets of the crown create an air tight seal when screwed in properly, rejecting the entry of water and other unwanted particles.
